Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer

Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer

Nouvelles fréquentations

Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer is made up of five voices and some feet. Their impressive harmonies transport us seamlessly to their traditional universe. It’s a musical journey from yesterday to tomorrow through a contemporary and traditional repertoire.

Les Charbonniers de l’Enfer is the only a capella folk group in Québec that has been captivating audiences for more than 18 years. The exceptional affinity of the group’s members—Michel Bordeleau, Michel Faubert, André Marchand, Jean-Claude Mirandette and Normand Miron—makes their show burn with even more sizzle. Their harmony on stage, as well as in their songs, is pure pleasure with a quiver of excitement.

With their six albums, Les Charbonniers have earned many nominations in Quebec and Canada. Nouvelles Frequentations was nominated twice at the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2011 and 4 times at the ADISQ (Quebec’s music Awards).

Show / Album

This new album, Nouvelles fréquentations, shows Les Charbonniers de l’Enfer in a new light. This exceptionally touching collection presents a brilliant selection of pieces from contemporary Québecois, French and American sources combining pop, poetry and adaptation. Well-known artists such as Dédé Fortin, Neil Young and Félix Leclers have had their songs "charbonized"! An unexpected encounter between the modern and traditional with an oh so enchanting result!

On stage, Les Charbonniers de l’Enfer skilfully mix anecdotes and songs, hooking the audience from the first note. Their well-known personal touch is loved by all.

« Whether you are a traditional music lover or not, it is almost impossible not to fall under the Charbonniers de l’Enfer’s spell. » Joël Martel - Voir
« The flirt between the new pieces and the well established ones just proved how the a capella band achieved to add new content to raw material. » Sylvain Cormier – Le Devoir
